I remember when I visited Disney in 1995 quite vaguely, but one of the most vivid memories is the movies in 3D for the first time ever. I don't know if the truth has been bent over these long years, but I believe it was everything I thought it would be. Things were actually jumping out of the screen and attacking me, such as lions, mice, water and other stuff. It was amazing, but I don't know if I remember it to be more amazing than it actually was.
Anywho! Almost a decade later I went to see Avatar, and boy, what a disappointment! I thought those glasses were disturbing. I couldn't concentrate because they were ophthalmologically crappy. I don't know if I'm making much sense here, but not only there wasn't so much 3D as a slight change of perspective, but I remember I distinctly felt that I really got a good idea of how pretty the movie really was when I saw it in my house with no 3D to annoy me.
After that there was a parade of movies that, according to everyone, were not made for 3D cinema, just adapted, so I constantly felt that the best 3D effects in the whole movie were the subtitles and rolling credits.
Now, a new man, I boycott 3D cinema until I hear someone saying that the 3D effects blew their minds away.
